Who We Treat
We specialize in helping Young and Mid-Life adults reach sobriety.
Excel Treatment Center helps people of all ages who are affected by substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Whether you are a Veteran, a college student, a mid-career professional, or a person who is homeless, we believe that for us to offer the best possible treatment, we must fully understand our clients and offer specialist targeted treatment. That is why we primarily provide recovery services to two key groups of sufferers: young adults and those who consider themselves to be in their ‘mid-life’. But no matter where you are in life, if you need help, give us a call. If we aren’t the right place for you, we will help you find a place that is.
Drug overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in New Jersey. New Jersey is positioned between the two of the main areas on the East Coast of the United States with the highest drug consumption. This has resulted in New Jersey areas, most specifically, Passaic, Essex, Union, Morris, Bergen, and Camden Counties becoming overrun with illicit drugs and many of its citizens facing substance use disorders and addiction. In the last decade, admission to drug treatment programs has risen 700%, there have been almost 14,000 deaths from drug overdose since 2004. The rate of heroin overdose in New Jersey is 3x the national average1. The abuse of opioids, stimulants, heroin, and prescription drugs is at an all-time high. At the Excel Center we are doing our part to help remedy it.
People of all ages can be affected by substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. We believe that for us to offer the best possible treatment, we must fully understand our client base and offer specialist targeted treatment. Therefore we provide recovery services to two key groups of sufferers; young adults and those who consider themselves to be in their ‘mid-life’.

Young Adults
The opioid epidemic which has swept through New Jersey has proved that; people in their early teens through to people in their 60s have all been affected by this; although people between the ages of 18-25 are most likely to start using addictive substances2. Unfortunately, what could start as an experiment or a recreational activity can quickly become an addiction. Many of the substances used by young people in New Jersey, such as heroin, synthetic drugs, and prescription drugs, are potentially psychologically addictive after just one use.
It is common for these young adults to find themselves in a situation where they strongly wish to stop but find that their desire to abstain is not enough. Addiction affects the brain areas that control decision-making and impulsivity; this means that addicts’ power of choice is greatly diminished3. This is a desperately frightening place to find yourself and one where confusion, remorse, shame, and fear can reign.
We at the Excel Center understand the predicament that these young adults find themselves in. Our team of expert clinicians, counselors, holistic practitioners, and care staff are on hand to warmly welcome each new client to the start of their healing journey. We want to help each client get back to their life as soon as possible to thrive, flourish, and follow their goals. With a customized treatment plan, including medically supportive recovery (MSR), partial care, and intensive outpatient services (IOP) we can ensure each client can live a sober, positive life.

Kickstart Your Recovery
Many people who are in active addiction do not understand why they cannot stop. They also fear the interruption that detox and rehabilitation could cause to their lives. At The Excel Center, we seek to alleviate your concerns and reassure you that our personalized treatment plan will not only help you kickstart your recovery but will ensure that your future is one with strength, autonomy, purpose, and growth.
Mid-Life Adults
Many older adults can be resistant to seeking help. There is a mistaken belief that people only develop an addiction at a young age; however, people can be vulnerable to developing one at any point in their life. Many find that they develop a drinking problem later in life, with 10-15% of people starting to drink heavily in older age4. Older adults are more likely to be ‘functional’ users with marriages, children, jobs, and responsibilities. Therefore they can often be encumbered with feelings of worthlessness, guilt, and fear. They will have habitual patterns that have enabled them to use in secret or, at the very least, hide the extent of the severity. We want all our clients to know that there is no judgment at the Excel Center. We understand that addiction is heavily impacted by an individual’s life circumstances and experiences. No two clients are the same, just as no two addictions are the same. Each one deserves help, compassion, and support to reclaim their life.
