Alcohol Treatment
Alcoholism and Co-Occurring Disorders
According to the Institute of Medicine, alcoholism often co-occurs with other mental and behavioral disorders, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Many clients may not even be aware of the presence of another condition until they enter an alcohol addiction treatment program. However, the presence of other conditions further complicates alcoholism and recovery, and if they are not identified and addressed, then addiction treatment can be less effective.
Diligent Diagnosis
At Excel, we are diligent in forming an accurate diagnosis, which in turn helps us recommend the best and most appropriate plan of action. We consider all aspects of our clients overall mental health, which allows our team, our clients, and their families to understand their unique recovery needs.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Somatic Experiencing (SE)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Experiential and Holistic Therapy to Support Addiction Treatment
To complement the modalities listed above, we also employ various experiential and holistic therapies, including:
- Art therapy
- Music therapy
- Equine-assisted therapy
- Meditation
- Yoga
Holistic and expressive therapies can help to support recovery by focusing on the client’s own innate creativity and expression. Meditation and yoga, in particular, can strengthen the mind-body connection and help clients develop a more loving, compassionate relationship with themselves and those around them.

How to Support a Loved One in Addiction Treatment
It can be challenging for families and friends to know what to do when a loved one is suffering from alcoholism. At times, it can feel as though there are simply no solutions. As much as we want to encourage our loved ones to enter treatment, ultimately, the decision is down to the individual.
Nevertheless, friends and family can have a powerful influence, and kind, loving, and compassionate support can go a long way in letting the affected individual know that they have a support network who are available and ready to help as much as possible.
Addiction doesn’t need to be tackled alone. At Excel Treatment Center, we support not only our clients but also their loved ones. We can provide you with advice about how best to approach your loved one’s addiction and can recommend individual and family-based therapy options for everyone who is affected by their loved one’s condition.
Why Choose a Recovery Program at Excel Treatment Center?
One of our primary goals is to equip our clients with the skills and resources necessary to continue their recovery journey after their treatment has ended. The Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment tells us that clients are likely to face a range of challenges after primary treatment. There may be many temptations and triggers that could potentially compromise a successful recovery.
We aim to reduce the chance of relapse by teaching our clients practical coping skills and self-management techniques, and by providing sober support after treatment. Recovery is not a quick process, and there is no fast track to success. Ultimately, with time and patience, as well as hope and resilience, recovery is possible.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us today if you or a loved one is suffering from alcoholism. We’re here to help.
