Young Adults

We specialize in helping young adults reach sobriety.

At Excel Center, We understand that no two clients of ours are the same, and as such, we deliver a highly personalized service to each of them. We do not believe that anyone is ever too young or too old to be an addict; this is why we firmly state that it is our mission to deliver treatment to everyone and anyone who needs it. The opioid epidemic which has swept through New Jersey has proved that; people in their early teens through to people in their 60s have all been affected by this. We also know that people between the ages of 18-25 are most likely to start using addictive substances. Of those who start experimenting with mind- altering substances, many will find themselves becoming addicted. It is important to remember, especially for our younger clients, that addiction means that you cannot stop. It does not come with any other caveats; if you are concerned and unable to cease using then please contact us.

We are aware that people in their 20s and early 30s have different needs from other adults. We understand that this generation is the first to grow up during the age of technology; we know that increased social media and internet use is linked to a number of detrimental effects on mental health. We also know the bind that some of our clients find themselves in; they know their use is out of control, but they do not want to miss out on the experiences that their friends are having. We know how hard it may be to be attending college and be surrounded by alcohol and drugs.

This is what really sets the Excel Center apart in the world of addiction treatment. Our ethos is that we treat every aspect of a person; this is called holistic treatment. Our clients can expect to receive:

Short-term group therapy or individual psychological counseling for stress, anxiety, depression, or other mental health concerns
Short-term or intensive outpatient treatment for alcohol or drug abuse, which combines weekly group meetings and one-on-one counseling for several months
Relapse prevention program, individual and group sessions that reinforce new skills and addresses new challenges before they turn into old problems
Access to 12-step meetings for those who find them helpful
Medication-assisted treatment using Suboxone or Vivitrol

We do, however, recommend that for initial treatment that clients do join us residentially. In doing this we can provide round-the-clock care. The initial stages in recovery can be very heavy emotionally for addicts; people are not typically used to functioning without a chemical substance as a buffer. This is why the presence of our highly trained staff is incredibly beneficial for young adults seeking treatment; it means that there is always someone at hand who is both knowledgeable and compassionate.

We offer a range of services to suit our client’s individual needs. Not every person can temporarily leave their life and check-in to residential treatment. This is why we offer a range of outpatient treatments that can be tailored to what we assess the client as needing. This can range from an intensive program which the client is expected to attend every day, to a thrice-weekly program.

Many people who are in active addiction do not understand why they cannot cease using the substance or behavior. Many people are uneducated about the actual physical changes which addiction brings about in the brain; addiction effectively hijacks the brain’s reward pathways which can lead sufferers of addiction to doing actions which they would never usually consider. This means that many people who are attempting to recover on their own can feel overwhelmed with guilt and shame for their condition. This can be especially true for younger people, as they will have friends who lead seemingly normal lives. At Excel Center we understand that addiction is a disease; we also firmly believe that it is a treatable disease.

We recommend that our clients join one of our sober living facilities upon completing treatment. This is because it is highly beneficial to be around others who have the same recovery goals but within a controlled environment. We offer aftercare packages that are designed to help clients slowly get used to “normal” life, free from mind-altering substances while providing a supportive backdrop where they can process their feelings and thoughts. Addiction can be a very lonely and isolating experience; recovery does not have to be. We believe that by combining our expertise with your willingness that anything is possible.

We have treated many young people who have gone on to live fantastic and free lives; people have returned to their families, been successful in careers, and had beautiful families. We will enable you to build a solid foundation for your recovery upon which the rest of your life can grow.

If you are concerned about yourself or a loved one, please do not hesitate to get in touch with one of our trained admission staff.
