A compassionate program and an amazing team

At the Excel Center, we know that seeking treatment for addiction is not something that is ever taken lightly. People typically first meet us when they are in a very vulnerable state, usually having attempted to stop on their own multiple times. We understand that often people are confused about what treatment entails, how the admissions process works, and what treatment looks like.

The good news is that receiving the help you or your loved one deserves is much easier than most people think. We have been treating addiction since 2012, and we pride ourselves on keeping it simple. We understand that addiction is a disease – we know that addicts are just people who need help. We are uniquely situated in New Jersey to deliver that, through compassionate guidance and therapy.

ADMISSIONS PROCESS

STEP 1 – SCHEDULE YOUR INITIAL ASSESSMENT

Call Our Office At (973) 989-7500

If we’re unavailable, expect a callback within an hour.

Give us a short description of why you or your loved one needs treatment. Our call center staff are all highly trained, and can guarantee your utmost confidentiality. We use this information so that we can schedule an appointment with the most appropriate Excel clinician.

We know that time is of the essence when treating addiction. Appointments are usually scheduled within 24 hours, although in some cases a same-day appointment will be available.

If you are planning to file with your insurance, please give us your insurance details prior to the appointment. This allows us to verify coverage and work out the personal costs, and what the insurance covers.

If you are self-funding your entire treatment with us, please see our dedicated FAQ page.

STEP 2 – COMPLETE YOUR INITIAL ASSESSMENT

Please Complete Our New Client Forms Before Arrival

To give them to the Admissions Coordinator when you arrive.

Your initial assessment will take about 90 minutes. This is a chance for us to get to know each other – we know you or your loved ones will have a lot of questions to ask us.

Some of the questions asked may be:

  • What drugs are you currently using?
  • How are you using them?
  • How much are you using per day?
  • Are you on any medication?
  • How long have you been using them?
  • Have you ever been to treatment before?
  • Why are you seeking treatment now?

We will also ask detailed questions about your health, medical history, work and employment history, and your family and social life and history. We appreciate that some of these questions may seem intrusive – after all, we don’t usually speak to someone we have just met about these intimate parts of our life.

All of the information we receive is strictly confidential, so no one you have not authorized will ever hear it. Our assessments are done on a one-to-one basis, so even if a loved one has accompanied you, you will have the option of being alone with our clinician. Whilst we aim for an open and honest relationship with our families and loved ones, we know that there are some things you may not feel prepared to, or it may be inappropriate to, disclose to them.

At the end of your assessment, you’ll receive our expert treatment recommendation. You will also have scheduled your first appointment with your primary therapist by the end of your assessment.

Our ultimate goal is for our clients to have a happy and sustained recovery. For this reason, if we think that another treatment provider is a better choice for you than Excel, we will refer you and make sure you get a prompt appointment.

STEP 3 – MEET WITH YOUR PRIMARY THERAPIST

Your Primary Therapist Will Work With You To Develop A Unique Treatment Plan

At Excel Center, we offer a wide range of therapy and therapeutic activities. This isn’t a one-way street – you will get an opportunity to say what you want to, and what you don’t want to do.

We understand that people change throughout treatment, and as such, our treatment plans are flexible. Just because you opted for one style of treatment doesn’t mean you have to stick to it for the whole time you are under our care.

As you progress through your treatment plan, your primary therapist will work with you to make sure that you are making progress.
